"Engrossing...memorable...profound. Beautifully captures the complex nature of the way we cope with loss."
~ Douglas Laman, The Spool

The Book Keepers follows the uplifting journey of a husband who keeps his wife's dream alive by becoming the spokesperson for her book after her death.

Carol Wall's debut memoir – about cancer, friendship, and cultivating an open heart – was a breakout success. But joy turned to tragedy when the breast cancer she wrote about returned, and she died months after its publication.

Carol’s husband, Dick, determined to help her life-affirming message find its audience, becomes the book’s unlikely spokesperson and embarks on a nationwide book tour. He’s joined by the couple’s filmmaker son, Phil Wall, who captures his dad’s efforts to ensure her dream lives on. The result is an intimate portrait of love and loss – an ode to the healing power of storytelling.
"I cannot commend too highly this insightful documentary."
- Ed McNulty, Visual Parables

"This is a different kind of portrait of grief than movies usually show us."
- Scott Renshaw, Salt Lake City Weekly

"Compelling, heartbreaking, heartwarming, touching, bittersweet, inspirational."
- Wendy Schadewald, Sun This Week

"A thing of beauty."
- Darrel Manson, ScreenFish

"Wall has beautifully structured this tale for maximum poignance."
- MaryAnn Johanson, FlickFilosopher

"A beautifully intimate portrait of loss and never-ending love."
- Michael Calleri, Niagra Gazette

"It’s important to me that THE BOOK KEEPERS sparks healthy discussion on loss. I don’t have answers, so the film doesn’t offer any—not even how much time has passed. It’s an intimate and honest portrait that I hope can help others heal in the same way people’s stories have helped me."
- Phil Wall, Director
