A new documentary from Ron Davis
director of Harry and Snowman and Life in the Doghouse

PARAGOLD
Coming to Streaming & DVD on June 20th, 2023

ParaGold follows the lives of four Paralympic equestrian hopefuls as they vie for a spot on the U.S. Paralympic Dressage team.

The film focuses on Roxy Trunnell, Rebecca Hart, David Botana and Sydney Collier on their quest to qualify for – and hopefully win – gold medals at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. Each of the four riders has severe physical disabilities, but determination and the bond with their horses propel them to greatness.

Para Dressage is the highest expression of horse training for athletes with a physical disability. Conducted under the same basic rules as Olympic-level Dressage, the athletes are classified according to the level of their disability. They must direct their horse to perform at a walk, trot, and canter, and all tests are ridden from memory and follow a prescribed pattern of precise movements. Para Dressage is the only equestrian discipline included in the Paralympic Games, the second largest sporting event in the world after the Olympic Games.

Director Bio: Ron Davis

Ron Davis was born and raised in New Jersey. He spent nearly ten years in New York City managing global sales and licensing for the publishing houses Simon & Schuster and Sterling Publishing. As a filmmaking enthusiast, in his spare time Ron co-directed and produced Pageant (2009), a film that follows the lives of five female impersonators as they vie for the crown at the 34th annual Miss Gay America Pageant. Following its theatrical release, Pageant premiered on The Sundance Channel.

In 2010, Ron started the production company Docutainment, where he turned his attention to producing and directing documentary films on a full-time basis. Docutainment's first feature documentary, Miss You Can Do It (2013), chronicled Abbey Curran, Miss Iowa USA 2008 and the first woman with a disability to compete at the Miss USA Pageant. It was an HBO Original Documentary film.

His next film was Harry and Snowman (2016), which tells the remarkable love story between Dutch immigrant Harry de Leyer and the horse Snowman, which he bought for $80 off of a slaughter truck bound for the glue factory. The film was a critical and box office hit, one of 2016’s top grossing documentaries.

Ron’s fourth feature film, Life in The Doghouse (2018), tells the inspiring story of Danny Robertshaw and Ron Danta, who have saved and found homes for more than 11,000 abused, abandoned and starving dogs. The documentary enjoyed an award-winning film festival run followed by a Theatrical On-Demand release, and finally premiered on Netflix in summer 2019.

Ron and Docutainment have several film and television projects currently in development and production.
